Some owners, faced with rusting original chrome bumpers opted to replace them with more modern bumpers from the then plentiful XJ Series III model.
The bumper swap was a relatively easy job as the brackets were virtually interchangeable and the lower front indicators could be removed and the hole welded up.
One benefit of the modification was the inclusion of rear fog lights on the Series three bumpers which meant the end of the ugly bolt on extra light required to pass the MOT in the UK.
