Why are we so immune from learning hard lessons from others?
Oh, don’t get me wrong, we make all the right noises about ‘living life to the max’ after hearing about someone dying young. But after a couple of hours (or beers), we go right back to worrying about the same old stuff.
Back to worrying about things we cannot control. Back to worrying about stuff that we want. Back to worrying about what our peers are doing. Mostly worrying about stuff that is just, well, stuff.
But when faced with true personal tragedy, most those worries are pretty irrelevant.
When you really get down to it there are only 4 things that really matter:
- your health
- sustenance (food, water, curry, wine etc)
- shelter (house, protection from weather etc)
- relationships (a significant other, family, friends etc)
It could be argued that everything else is either adjustable or even disposable.
Why is being satisfied and happy such a task these days?
Stay well
