First frost of the year

And so it begins.

I admit to being a little apprehensive about my first and rapidly approaching winter here in Asker. Especially when people say that Asker is a “snow magnet”!

Having said that, the last few days have been how I imagined Norway to be, cool, sure; but the clear blue sky and stillness is breathtaking. The water in the fjord looks like a millpond and along with the colours of autumn, it’s just lovely (I must take the camera down there this weekend!).

Lots of the leaves have already dropped in our garden and we are starting to see how much garden we actually have. It was pretty impossible to see much when it resembled a jungle in the summer time! I now look at the ‘beck’ at the bottom with a wary eye. The house is much too high for it to be a problem, but I still wonder how high it will run in the spring melt.

Although the first frost came today I hope that the snow will hold off for a couple more months yet. The kids are already planning their ‘suite’ of igloos and ice caves though…………

Stay well
