Woodpecker in Norway
I always know that I am in a new country when I see birds that I cannot immediately identify! Hence the unfamiliar visit from a woodpecker to the seed ball in our new temporary garden.
The weather here is stunningly clear skies and a crisp morning temperature although it soon climbed to 10 degrees which coupled with the sunshine is surprisingly comfortable.

View from the 'office' in Norway
The view from my new ‘office’ is still bleak from the incredibly harsh winter that Norway experiences but that makes the coming spring all the more startling in its transformation. No buds yet but they cannot be far away.
As you can imagine moving to a new country gives you a ‘to do’ list that takes some getting through, but we can only take it one item at a time.
Abraham Lincoln once said that ‘the nice thing about the future is that it only comes at you one day at a time’.
I can live with that.
First on the list is to pay a visit to the local police station to ‘register’. I have been practicing standing up straight so I should be alright……
I am looking forward to living in Norway, although it will be the most challenging place that I have ever lived (including Africa) because everything here will be new: language, culture, house, job(?!), weather, driving on the ‘wrong’ side etc etc
Stay well
